Since Dwight Howard has no interest in signing a long-term deal with the Bulls, Chicago has turned its attention to trying to orchestrate a trade for Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol before Thursday's trade deadline.
The Lakers, however, have little interest in the players the Bulls are willing to trade to acquire Gasol, such as forward Carlos Boozer, so the Bulls are trying to bring at least one more team in the mix to sweeten the offer to L.A., according to ESPN.
The Lakers want a star-type talent in exchange for the Spanish big man and continue to talk with other teams about potential trades for him, the report says. An upgrade at point guard is high on the Lakers’ priority list, and while the Houston Rockets covet Gasol, they are not willing to part with Kyle Lowry to get him. The Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves are also believe to be interested in Gasol, ESPN notes.
