With the NBA’s March 15 trade deadline looming, one name to keep an eye on is Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford. Several teams are interested in acquiring him and the Blazers might be motivated sellers, Hoopsworld reports.
While the Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves are making the strongest pushes for Crawford, the Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks have also expressed interest.
Furthermore, since the Blazers have fallen below .500, it would not surprise some around the league to see the organization shake up the roster before the deadline.
Crawford was signed by Portland last offseason to a $5 million deal with a player option for the same amount next season, a palatable contact that makes him an attractive trade candidate. Also, the Blazers are concerned he won’t exercise the option, meaning the team would be left with nothing if they don’t trade him now, the website reports.
One thing that could muck up any deal for Crawford—or anyone else on Portland’s roster—is the fact that the team has no general manager and that the front office lacks direction. Hoopsworld reports, “The problem is there’s no clear pecking order in Portland right now. Teams trying to deal with them have voiced frustration because they are unsure of who to talk to.”
