Michael Beasley reportedly on Lakers’ radar

The Los Angeles Lakers have had conversations with the Minnesota Timberwolves about a potential trade for Michael Beasley, ESPN.com reports. The Lakers are intrigued with the fourth-year forward and had discussions with the Wolves about him before the season started. Had the trade for Chris Paul gone through, Beasley may already be in L.A., according to the report.

While it’s not clear what the Lakers would give up in exchange for Beasley, Pau Gasol has not been part of recent discussions. But Minnesota is looking to move Beasley, who they believe still has maturity issues.

The Lakers, meanwhile, are still in pursuit of a point guard. They like their chances of trading a first-round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Ramon Sessions, and if that or other options fail, they could sign free agent Gilbert Arenas.

Two point guards unlikely to land in L.A.: Houston's Kyle Lowry, who the Rockets don’t want to part with; and Toronto’s Jose Calderon, since the Raptors would probably want another point guard in return.
