Pau Gasol: Trade rumors 'out of my hands'

The Lakers have already almost traded Pau Gasol once this season, so it's no surprise that he sees the writing on the wall as the trade deadline approaches.

"There's talks and rumors every day. Today I was reading it was Minnesota is really interested in trying to put a good package together," Gasol told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "(Other teams are) calling, and it seems like things are just waiting for the right offer to come along, for (the Lakers) to pull the trigger."

Gasol was headed to the Houston Rockets as part of the NBA-vetoed deal that would've netted the Lakers point guard Chris Paul, and wasn't hesitant to express his disappointment over the ordeal. His play has improved after a rough start to the season, and he's averaging 16.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks.

"It's out of my hands. It is what it is. I'd like to be here," he said. "I'd like to make this team better and get back to a championship level, but it's not up to me."

As for the Minnesota deal Gasol referenced, Fox Sports reported Wednesday that the Timberwolves are dangling rookie forward Derrick Williams in an attempt to acquire Gasol.
