NBA Report: Wilson Chandler planning to return to U.S. earlier than expected

Denver Nuggets restricted free agent Wilson Chandler is scheduled to return to America from China sooner than originally expected, sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Chandler is targeting a return to the United States next week, according to the report. However, how quickly Chandler can re-sign with the Nuggets, his stated intention, remains unclear.

Chandler's Chinese Basketball Association team, the Zhejiang Lions, start a five-game playoff series next week.

Chandler has received the blessing of Lions management to return to the NBA after he helped the Lions clinch a playoff spot, according to the report.

However, Chandler does need the Chinese Basketball Association to issue his FIBA Letter of Clearance before he can get back into and resume his NBA career. The report indicates it is not yet known whether Chinese authorities will grant Chandler that clearance or not allow him to return to the NBA and sign with a team, until the Lions' season is over.

Upon signing with a Chinese league team during the lockout, part of the agreement for all NBA players was that the players could not sign with another team until their Chinese league team's season was over.
