Ronny Turiaf latches onto Miami Heat for run at title

The Miami Heat are finalizing a deal with free agent big man Ronny Turiaf.

“We’re working hard to get it finished up,” Turiaf’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, told Yahoo!.

Turiaf was acquired by Denver in a three-way, deadline-day trade—which also involved Nene going to Washington, and the Wizards sending JaVale McGee to the Nuggets and Nick Young to the L.A. Clippers—but was released by the Nuggets thereafter.

A seven-year NBA veteran, Turiaf has played for the Lakers, Warriors and Knicks. He played in just four games with Washington this season before fracturing his hand in early January. The Heat obviously expect him to be healthy for a playoff run and see him bolstering their front-court depth.

Turiaf has career averages of 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
