NBA Report: Allen Iverson signs deal to play in Dominican Republic

Allen Iverson has inked a one-month deal to play for Capitanes de la Bahia of the Dominican Republic. The deal is for a tournament called the XXXII Torneo de Baloncesto superior de Santiago, according to the site.

Iverson will earn around $22,000 for the month, Sportando reports.

Stephen Jackson, currently with the San Antonio Spurs, played for Capitanes de la Bahia in 2000, the report notes.

Iverson has made no secret of his desire to get back to the NBA, and a source close to him said last month that he was willing to play in the D-League, the Caribbean or South America if it was a reasonable path back to the league.

"Allen only wants to play if there's a possibility that it leads to the NBA," the source told ESPN. "That's the only way he would go to one of these lower leagues. He wants to get back to the NBA and leave the game on his terms."
