Texas guard J'Covan Brown ready to declare eligibility for NBA Draft

University of Texas junior guard J'Covan Brown will enter the NBA Draft, an NBA source confirmed to the Austin American-Statesmen.

Brown (6-foot-1, 197 pounds) is listed as the 69th best NBA prospect by Draft Express.

He averaged 20.1 points, 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds, but shot just 41.7 percent from the field this season. He did hit a solid 36.9 percent of his 3-point attempts.

The American-Statesmen notes that 12 of Texas coach Rick Barnes’ former players are in the NBA, tied with Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina as the third most. Duke (16) and UCLA (14) head that list.

Only three of Texas’ current pros spent all four years at college, according to the report, and four have left after their freshmen years. Barnes maintains, "We will always recruit the best players."
