The injury sustained by Chicago Bulls guard Rip Hamilton Monday night against the Indiana Pacers is not as serious as some Bulls fans surely feared, as the team announced via Twitter that Hamilton is day-to-day with a right shoulder contusion and mild sprain.
Hamilton, acquired by Chicago this offseason, has had trouble staying healthy all year. He’s played in just 16 of the Bulls’ 40 games and has had two extended absences due to injury.
And comments from Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau after Monday’s game sounded ominous. “He collided and it’s his shoulder,” Thibodeau said. “He tried to shake it off and at first I thought it might be a stinger, but that wasn’t the case.”
When he’s been healthy, Hamilton has played well for Chicago, averaging 11.3, on 45.2 percent shooting, in 25.3 minutes per game.
