Agent Noah Croom under consideration for Trail Blazers GM gig

The Portland Trail Blazers have interviewed Noah Croom, an agent with Goodwin Sports, for the organization’s open general manager’s job, Yahoo! Sports is reporting.

Before becoming an agent, Croom served as assistant GM for the Grizzlies from 1995-2000 in both Vancouver and Memphis. He’s so far chosen to stay with Aaron Goodwin’s agency despite being considered for several front-office positions in the NBA, Yahoo! notes.

The Trail Blazers have been without a general manager since firing Rich Cho last May and have recently reopened their search after halting it in November while the NBA was still closed for business because of the lockout. Chad Buchanan has been serving as the team’s interim GM.

The Oregonian has speculated that Steve Kerr is high on Portland’s wish list of potential new GMs.

There are at least two former agents that have high-ranking basketball positions with NBA teams, Yahoo! notes—Lon Babby in Phoenix and Bob Myers in Golden State.
