Alabama’s Tony Mitchell reportedly headed for NBA Draft

Junior small forward Tony Mitchell will enter the NBA Draft after asking for and receiving a release from Alabama, Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears reports via Twitter.

Mitchell was suspended by Alabama on Feb. 7 for what Crimson Tide coach Anthony Grant said was not a single violation but "an accumulation of things."

He started in all but one game for Alabama before the suspension and was second on the team in points (13.1) and rebounds per game (7.0). He played in 89 games over three seasons at Alabama, averaging 12.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Draft Express has Mitchell (6-6, 185 pounds) listed as its 71st best NBA prospect. Sporting News’ Sean Deveney does not have Mitchell projected as a first-round pick in his latest mock draft.
